The Lions Club of Matamata

The Lions Club of Matamata has been serving the local community for more than 50 years having been originally chartered in December 1958. Our more than 40 members raise funds collecting slinks from July to October and through a variety of projects during the year including our annual fertiliser drive and IHC golf tournament. Pictured above are some of our members preparing the annual Santa Parade.

We also have fun and fellowship with an interesting and diverse social programme - cruising on Lake Karapiro, wine tours, "Guess who's coming to dinner" evenings, interesting guest speakers, games nights, Chrismas function and summer barbecues.

Matamata is situated in the heart of the Waikato - a vibrant community with a population of around 12,000 people. The local economy is based on dairy farming, horse breeding, vegetable growing and light industry including manufacturing of equipment for mining and agricultural enterprises.

Our Club welcomes visitors and invites you to contact our Club Secretary if you would like to learn more about us. We are always looking for like minded individuals to join our Club to better serve our local community. You too can make a difference!
