Mt Maunganui & District Lioness Club

For Service & Satisfaction

The Premier Volunteer Service Organisation where members enjoy fun and friendships whilst serving the community.

Meet New Friends........... and have some fun!

Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

You can meet new friends, someone different to talk to or go places with, and have some quality time for yourself.
There is nothing worse than moving into a new area where you don’t know anyone and the thought of making that first step to find new friends can be daunting.
How do you find out what’s going on in the area? If you contact a Lioness, we can guarantee you a welcoming friendly face who will make you feel part of the community - whether it be a social night out, a fund-raising event, or a welfare project in the community.
If you are on your own Lionesses can offer you friendship in a ‘safe’ environment without feeling vulnerable. Think about it!

Be part of your community  and enjoy it!

Who and What are We?

Lioness Clubs are part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organisation in the world. Lionesses also support Lions Clubs projects.
We are females from all walks of life who join together in friendship and enjoy each other’s company. We pride ourselves on playing an active part in the community, helping those less fortunate than ourselves, as well as enjoying social life with like-minded individuals.
Lioness Clubs are worldwide and visiting Lionesses are made very welcome by all clubs either in New Zealand or overseas.
A different club each year hosts the national Lioness Annual Fun Forum where all clubs gather for a weekend of fun and fellowship.

Lioness Christine Potter is ourClub's Best Dressed entry at  the Mardi Gra Fun Forum  hosted by Papakura Lioness Club

Fund Raising

All money raised by our club goes directly to worthy causes within the community. Our main fund-raising event is an Annual Book Fair held on Auckland Anniversary Weekend since 2000. In 2013 it became a joint project with Mount Maunganui Lions Club.

Community Projects

Projects are varied, such as goods for Food Bank, Hospice and those in need, Christmas Treats for the elderly and isolated, assisting with projects and street collections for various organizations. Plus Annual Bursary for a Mount Maunganui College Student.

Mount Mainstreet Partnership

Our club has formed a partnership with Downtown Mount Mainstreet and established a “Meet & Greet” programme for the visiting cruise ships. Lionesses and other volunteers, meet the cruise ships and greet the passengers and crew, as they disembark. We welcome them to the Mount, supply information about the area and assist them with any enquiries. We also assist with Mount Mainstreet activities and promotions. Website

Let Family & Friends join in!

You may be the one who is a member of the Lioness Club, but that doesn’t mean you have to forget your family and friends. Bring them along to any event. Young or old, we are always pleased to see them. From social events, sponsored walks, street collections or fund-raising activities, everyone has something to give. Whatever time you can spare, Lionesses are always very grateful. Our policy is Family first, Work second and then Lionesses.

Our club meets on the first Wednesday of the month for a Dinner Meeting at 6:30pm at the Mount RSA.
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month we hold a Business Meeting where we decide on various aspects of running the club– eg  planning fund-raising, community, or social events and allocating funds to various needy causes. The venue varies and starts at 7pm or 6pm if it is a Pot Luck Meeting.

Commitment is as much or as little as you can give.

Why not come and join us at one of our meetings and check us out.  You will be most welcome. Contact our President or Secretary for details of the next meeting. Refer to Contact Details
