District Profile - 202K

District 202K is the northern-most district of New Zealand, stretching from the Coromandel Peninsula through Auckland City to Cape Reinga in the north, and includes the Pacific islands of Samoa, American Samoa, Fiji & Tonga within its boundaries. It is a very diverse district ranging from city communities to quite economically challenged communities. The District has approximately 1,800 members spread through 82 clubs.

The District also has Leos clubs which are a junior branch of Lions sponsored by individual Lions clubs - most being attached to intermediate or secondary schools. These Leos are involved in projects within their local area of influence/communities thus giving younger members of our society an understanding of the need to help others.

Over recent years the clubs of our district have participated in many thousands of hours of community service, contributing to many very relevant and worthwhile causes such as:

  • A new War Memorial for Te Kauwhata

  • Provision of XRAY services for Whitianga

  • Community Vans

  • Provision of mobility aids for children with disabilities

  • Eye Clinics in the Pacific Island

  • Support for Vanuatu

  • Provision of Water Tanks in Tonga

  • Water desalination solar panels for Samoa

  • Eye Glass recycling

"We will promote active Lionism by positive communication, support, leadership and vision, to the Lions of our District "
