Some recent successful community projects involving members of our club:

  • Operating the "Penman" sales of ballpoint pens raising funds for a specified charity - Distrcit 202J "Chasing A Cure" diabetes type-1 project
  • Helping raise money to provide defibrillators in Bayfield High School, Dunedin, and Kaikorai Valley College, Dunedin
  • Providing park seat adjacent to new Baldwin Street toilets on North Road, Dunedin
  • Fraser's Gully - organising to make this area predator-free in conjunction with the DCC and DOC
  • McMillan Park on Highgate, Dunedin - redevelopment: new path, paved area, planting shrubs, laying drains, resiting and repainting play equipment (2006)
  • Sponsored entrants in teh Young Speechmakers' Contest, 2015
  • Supported local youth on United Nations Internship to New York, USA and another to Model United Nations in The Hague, The Netherlands
  • Kaikorai Valley Stream - environmental project: clearing river banks and planting native trees and shrubs through KVC
  • Braille collection for the blind in past years
  • Age Concern annual luncheon for meals-on-wheels recipients - providing drivers to and from venue
  • Casino fund-raisers
  • Delivery of telephone directories throughout Mornington, Maryhill, Bradford, Kenmure, Halfway Bush, Wakari and Kaikorai - 1991-present
  • Street appeal collection for Otago Community Hospice, Christchurch Earthquake Appeal (2011), MS Otago
  • Providing sellers for Otago Community Hospice trailer raffle
  • Assisting with cemetery clearing and maintenance (Anderson's Bay, Dunedin Southern, and Waikouaiti Cemeteries) for Historic Cemeteries Trust
  • Selling and delivering bags of fertiliser
  • Delivering meals-on-wheels
  • Supporting local youth in various endeavours with financial support, e.g. national futsal tournament, Outward Bound course, "Spirit of Adventure" voyages, etc.
  • Sponsored participants in the Berwick Outdoor Experience, 2013-17
  • Fund-raising dinner for Otago Community Hospice with celebrity guest speaker, 2012
  • Section clearing and similar projects, e.g. painting
  • Visitations to and from other clubs, e.g. Port Chalmers & District, Milton, Taieri
  • Chopping, selling and delivering firewood
  • Collecting and selling Christmas trees, 2012
  • Charity golf tournaments in 2013-16 raised over $4000 for the Otago Community Hospice
