The North Otago Lions Club with the support of Oamaru Paper Plus hosted a cooking demonstration by the 2011 MasterChef winner Nadia Lim held at the Fenwick School Hall on the 19th of November.

Nadia’s first dish was Maple Walnut cookies.  While making the cookies Nadia gave the audience a lot of hints and tips, one of which was that you can replace the butter with coconut oil and the cream with coconut cream to make foods Gluten Free.

The second dish was Lemon Grass and Chilli Chicken with Lettuce Cups.  During the making of this dish she told us of the fun of the Master Chef competition including being house bound for three months with the other contestants in the show.

The final dish was Crispy Skin Fish with Asian Slaw which included mango slices and we were informed what we could do with the mango stone.  It makes a good skin moisturizer; just rub the stone on your skin.

The audience enjoyed tasting the various dishes as they were produced and were able to purchase a signed copy of Nadia’s book Nadia Lim GOOD FOOD COOK BOOK also Nadia’s Kitchen.

The evening concluded with supper and the drawing of raffles.

The profit raised from this event will be used for a future Lions Community Service Project.
