Once again this was a very successful event with approximately 750 people registered to walk, with many others joining in during the 24 hour period.  This year the biggest remark made was how many young people, how many teenagers were walking.  I think they are now realising this is a disease that not only affects the older generation, also the young families walking with small children.  I believe the youngest was 7 weeks old.

The money raised reported on Sunday was $65,000 with a lot more since then and with more events still being held I can see it getting much higher which is wonderful considering Dunedin only raised $200,000.

Thanks to all club members who have helped, by the money raised at our sales table and the donation from the Charitable Trust our total to this event was $1,875.

We wore our Tee Shirts to the tea meeting to say how proud we were to represent North Otago Lions, some of our members walked for both us and their own work teams.

It has been an honour to do this in respect of loved ones we have lost and those who have survived.

We honoured our own members Helen and Joyce who lost the battle with messages on the candle bags and the candles that burned all night.
