Lake Tekapo

The Lake Tekapo Lions Club serves the small community around the beautiful alpine Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie Country of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Please note that for this  Lions year 2017/18 this club has a shared Presidency:

Blair Murray

Colin MacLaren

Our banner displays in the foreground the iconic stone church and the sheepdog memorial against the background of the lake and mountains. The night sky with stars and comet trail celebrates the Mackenzie Country's International Dark Skies Reserve status.

Recent community projects that our Lions have undertaken include the designing, clearing and landscaping of the Bruce Scott Memorial Walkway beside the river, the Lions Corner in the village centre, the Sequoia Grove in the Lake Tekapo Regional Park and at the west access of the new Lake Tekapo Footbridge.

Felling, ringing and splitting logs for firewood by our Lions is a major source of fundraising that enables this Lions Club to help fund local initiatives, sponsor local youth and support national and international charities and disasters.
