Once again our Fairlie Lions are planning an event which will not only raise the profile of the town but also raise funds for their projects.

The Fairlie Duathlon will be held on Sunday 18th November 2012, Canterbury Anniversary Weekend.

The course will be set in the Fairlie area and include the Fairlie-Kimbell Walkway – a most popular project driven and completed by the Fairlie Lions.

The event will begin with a run from Bennett’s Bay at Lake Opuha, up the road and around the dam, then following the track back to to the car park.  There they will have the transition onto bikes, heading down Monument Road to Stoneleigh Road and onto the Fairlie-Kimbell Track.

Competitors will cross the Opihi River under the Fairlie Bridge and finish on the Fairlie Village Green.

How can we support the Lions on this day?

Apart from going on the event, offering to help, coming along to watch, having our businesses open on the Main Street, adding some stalls under shop verandahs and giving life to the street – all contribute to the atmosphere on the day!

There will be local entertainment on the Village Green with contributions from throughout the community.

Sounds like a great day ahead! Come and support the Lions!
