DG Tony’s Thoughts.....

Spring has certainly arrived with some very warm days at present.

The weather in Wellington for the Council meeting of District Governors and the ANZI Forum, from September 5th – 9th, was cold, windy and showery which was not very pleasant for those that needed to be outside at all.  We stayed in the Brentwood Hotel in the suburb of Kilbirnie.

The ANZI Forum was very well organised, with many International guests and our World President Gudrun Yngvadottir and her husband Dr Jon Bjorni Thorsteinsson were also present.

President Gudrun addressed everyone at the official opening, and met up with DGs and Council Chairmen at a forum later in the day and other Lions office personnel during the weekend.

President Gudrun was the judge for the “Best Dressed Group” on the Saturday night when the theme was “Wellington, Boots & All”.  Our team of DGs and partners won this prize.

To those clubs that I have visited to date – a big thank you for your welcome and for making the meetings very enjoyable.  I have had the pleasure of inducting new members in two clubs I visited.  I also wish to thank those clubs that have also been inducting new members.  With my goal of lifting the membership up to 1275,
I would encourage all clubs to actively attract new members into Lions – The Biggest Service Organisation in the World.

I am into hospital on Monday 17th for my right hip replacement, so when I see you in the near future I should be feeling much happier!  Thanks to all of you that have wished me a speedy recovery.
