Our southern district is made up of 48 clubs and 3 Leos clubs with  1410 members as at the 30 June 2017. The district covers  from Stewart Island to Wanaka and Tuatapere to Owaka and our clubs carry out numerous fundraising projects.

There are projects such as selling sausages, cheese rolls, hay drives, recycling cardboard, manning the gates at Teretonga, selling firewood, catering, just to name a few..

The proceeds from the fundraising then goes to support charities/organisations such as The Southland Hospice, Diabetes Stem Cell Research, Child Mobility Foundation and with Lions celebrating 100 years of lions, some clubs are providing centennial legacy projects within their communities, such as providing a public garden, a community notice board etc

. Along with enjoying the fellowship of working on the projects together, lions also enjoy social events, where they might have guest speakers at their meetings, going out on 4WD events, participating in quizzes, just to name a few. Lions look at ways to enhance and care for the natural environment, creating walkways, planting trees etc.

Lions Clubs support the development of youth  with Young Speechmaker competition, Youth Leadership Development camps (locally we have these at Borland Lodge), Camp Quality (camps for youth living with cancer), Youth Exchange (hosting and sending 'Kiwis' to stay with Lions families around the world).

In October we holding a " Walk for Kids" on the 8th October 2017 to raise awareness and funds for children needing HART walkers - walking frames to help children with disabilities to stand and be mobile.
