Walk For Kids

Sunday 8 October 2017

The Lions Clubs NZ Child Mobility Foundation are asking your Lions Club to organise a

fundraising walk that COMMENCES AT 10.00 AM ON SUNDAY 8 OCTOBER 2017 (or a

date more suitable for your club) in your part of the country. The walk can be 5 10 km or

whatever distance you feel is appropriate. Our goal is to have a “Walk for Kids” covering the

equivalent of the distance from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island at the same time. Clubs in

larger centres are urged to join together and create a bigger event.

We suggest you target the following to get participants and support

Walking Groups ask for advice on the best walks, eg, easy terrain, scenic, out of

the way of traffic. Make sure local rules are abided by. Do you need guides,

marshalls, cones?

Sporting clubs rugby, league, netball, hockey, tennis, soccer, touch rugby etc

Other clubs, eg, Probus, Garden Clubs, Womens Institute, Federated Farmers,

Young Farmers etc.

Contact your local celebrities sporting and others and ask them to participate.

Publicise in local newspapers, on the radio and local TV stations.

Your club can charge an entry fee for participants or ask them to gain sponsorship.

Raise money whatever way suits your club and area.

Attached is this year’s poster. If you would like your walk to advertise time and place and

any other detail then please email Maria Heinrich on and she

will be happy to include that detail and email the poster back to you.

Our Lions Marketing Manager, Matt Nicholson, has tagged this event as a way to showcase

what Lions do in New Zealand so we look forward to walks being organised throughout the

country. Please let us know about your walk by contacting

Let’s make this year’s walks extra special and let the general public know of one of Lions

active events.

All money raised to be deposited in the Lions Clubs NZ Child Mobility Foundation

Bank Account Westpac 030389-0760525-00

Your support is very much appreciated by the CMF Team.
